June 13, 2.010

Our October tour preparations are in full swing. Check out our special "tour blog" at here for further details! RM74 will be joining us!

We will of course post confirmed gigs in our upcoming concerts section. Check back often!

November 27, 2.009

We have closed our recent concert mini-cycle with our recent show in the Kunstraum Aarau (Musikzimmer). It was a very nicely promoted event and we had a lot of fun. Here is a 6+ minute excerpt from the concert:

Also, here is a direct link to the YouTube page.

We are now deeply immersing ourselves into basically two things: our special vinyl project announced long ago and an international live tour in fall 2010.

October 2, 2.009

We have added new live shows in Bern and Aarau. All three upcoming shows will be part of Everestrecords' 'Zwitscherland 2009' tour (=> Flyer).

Show up next weekend for the '10 years Everestrecords' celebration at Dachstock Reitschule, Bern. This promises to be a great few nights of sonic extravaganza!

On the recording front, we are currently immersed in a very special sonic project that has quite some interesting potential... Once finished, this will be put on a deluxe vinyl record only and there will be a one-of-a-kind 'record baptism'... Don't expect this anytime soon, but it will come soon enough!

Speaking of vinyl records, we still have a handful (less than 10!) split-LPs with S/T left, so if you want to catch one, act quickly!

April 24, 2.009

Two upcoming gigs are confirmed. June 9 at Progr, Bern and October 29 at Oblò, Lausanne. More to follow soon!

April 20, 2.009

Finally, here are some good, solid news!

First and foremost, the aforementioned split-LP is only some days away
from release. It's taken a while to realise because of typical quality control Herpes-style... or should we say the usual delays in getting things together - also Herpes-style? Well well, a bit of both, we shall say :-) Let's settle with the statement that Joachim fortunately had a lot of good will and patience with us... Truth is that we worked on something that never quite got where we intended it to go - so we started from scratch and we now are very happy with what it has become! Good things can take time, you know...

The result is the very limited vinyl split-LP with the incredibly versatile S/T of Frankfurt on their quite-freshly started label Pure Pop For Now People. Two bands, one side each. Check the discography page for details. If you want one act quickly, as there are only 100 copies around - and only 50 of these will make it to Switzerland... The front cover (featured on our splash page) consists of a photograph by Ian Land. For ordering info/prices, drop us an email to toll@tollerort.org.

As for future projects, we just might stick to vinyl for the next one... We'll keep you posted on the proceedings. Don't expect it to pop up very quickly, though. But you SHOULD expect it to be an exciting and beautiful release though...

On the live front, there will be at least two or three upcoming gigs in summer and fall - details will be posted here shortly!

For now, keep supporting music in physical formats and screw downloads!

Love,
your local virus

Well.. no. We're not dead yet. In fact, very much alive and well! It's just the fact that yours truly has not been up to the task of keeping this site alive in the past months - er - years that is... A fact that is being changed right here, right now!

Meanwhile, we have also adapted to contemporary needs and feeds and Roger.Z has created our own myspace page, which can be found at www.myspace.com/herpesdeluxe.

There are many things going on with us right now. Stay tuned for an upcoming split-LP with a uniquely creative band from Germany. Also, recordings for our next CD are in process and progress. This will once again be a full album. Since we're still in the middle of recordings, there is no release date on the horizon so far.

More imminent are a few live dates this fall. On September 20, we're playing in Zürich (near Bahnhof Wollishofen) together with Roger Rotor and Genviève Pasquier. For reasons we're not able to explore here, the exact location of the gig can not be mentioned at this time. Check out the flyer for more details.

Another gig takes place on November 1 in Le Bourg in Lausanne with Everest Records labelmates Blinde Kinder (helfen bauen) as part of the Zwitscherland Tour 2008.

Possibly, there will be further live dates between these two, which we will of course post here once confirmed.

Hope to see you all there!

December 6, 2.006

Near the end of yet another year, we are proud to present the release
of our special CD 'Kielholen' on the Hinterzimmer label. Be sure to visit their website to order and check out other releases (current and forthcoming)! As for our current projects - there is something on the way, rest assured. It will be something quite unique and elaborate, but it's still in the earliest development stages. We will of course keep you posted right here.

Meanwhile, enjoy the festive days when you must or at least endure them. The next year sure is full of surprises...

"Vous êtes malade de faire ce bruit là?..."

July 25, 2.006

After another long absence from the web - how could it be any different -
we have some exciting news to tell you... We finally released the long promised album 'Your Favorite Position Is On Your Knees' as Reverend Beat-Man and The Church Of Herpes (a recording we have been working on since 1999!). We also had a special release party with the obligatory controversy attached. We hope you were there. That is the past.

As for the present, we also have yet another special project to announce.
We are about to release a CD on the newly founded label Hinterzimmer. It will consist of archive material that our friend and fellow musician rm74 compiled, produced and complemented with his own contributions as guest musician. The CD is called 'Kielholen' and will be available this fall.

Furthermore, we have two pending live appearances...

September 29, 2.006 we are supporting the Legendary Pink Dots in the still wonderful Café Bad Bonn, Düdingen and keep our junk in the trunk to unpack it again on September 30, 2.006 in the Restaurant Kreuz, Solothurn (a double bill concert with rm74). We most definitely hope to see all of you there. Cleanse your ears and poison your minds.

November 16, 2.005

So, we are now officially in our 11th year. Splendid. The three days in the Schlachthaustheater were a great experience. It was worth every effort in every way possible. A huge thank you to all the brilliant artists, everybody that helped out and of course the enthusiastic audience (especially the 'shadow dancer' - you made DJ Killroy's day). Yes, we know we keep thanking everyone. And yes, we will keep on doing so.

So, what's new in our second decade? First, there's (any month now) going to be the release of the looong promised Reverend Beat-Man and The Church Of Herpes LP, which will be called 'Your Favourite Position Is On Your Knees' (on Voodoo Rhythm Records). This may be celebrated (yes, we love celebrations) with a record release concert. This record was so many years in the coming that it *needs* a celebration. Both the release and the possible concert should happen sometime around January 2.006. Apart from that, there are many projects in our minds - some of which will surely come alive... soon.

"Und morgen, und morgen, und morgen..."

September 11, 2.005

Finally... Here is our jubilee celebration program. Who would have thought that when we started making noise in July 1.995 (intended as a one-off project for the meanwhile legendary Bucheron party in the woods) that we could ever become so persistent? For this year's celebration, we have invited quite a few artists, some of which have been of influence to us, some being friends, and some being both.

Short artist biographies can be found here.

Of course, we couldn't resist the temptation of not only bringing you outstanding live performances, but also showing off our neat collection of memorabilia from our 10 years' existence. This collection will be arranged into an exhibit located in the basement of the Schlachthaustheater, of course the entry is free...

Our sincere thanks and appreciation go out to the Schlachthaustheater, the city of Bern, zg hotels and the many many people supporting us in any way they can. Without them, this event would not be possible.

We truly hope you will be part of this very special "birthday party"! Show up, have a drink and enjoy some great music!

Now more than ever: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL VIRUS!

June 6, 2.005

Back again. Among the reasons for the past silence is the fact, that
we are heavily working on the new album under the moniker Reverend Beat-Man And The Church Of Herpes, which will appear later this summer/fall and will definitely be a very new alley for all of us. Blues-Trash-Noise-Gospel-Electro-Primitive-R'n'R.

Hear this: Mark September 29th, 30th and October 1st in your calendar!!!
We will celebrate our first decade of pure bliss with some very
s-p-e-c-i-a-l guests... Details to follow... (secret, secret).

October 11, 2.004

We are currently recording a new album (!) which should prove very interesting... It is a very special project going beyond our usual borders. More details when there's a timeline on the horizon...

Of more immediate attention is our next appearance (in full number this time) on November 27, 2.004 - once again in the wonderful Café Bad Bonn in Düdingen, appearing with our mates Everest and Feldermelder!!! This will be a one-off show, then it's back to the recordings... don't miss it - there might not be many of us - but we shall be  v e r y  present.

April 13, 2.004

Here now for the details of our show this coming friday. The club Glashaus is not in Basel itself but directely after the German border in Kleinhüningen. You take the first street to the left in direction of the Rhein. Doors are open at 21:00. As announced we'll only play as a trio that night and therefore appear on the program as Herpes Ö ReDuxe. www.glashaus.dfh.ch

March 22, 2.004

Another live event will take place on April 16, this time in the Glashaus, Basel (details will follow). As we will only be appearing as a trio for this occasion (what's up BlindDoc?), you can be sure to expect some kind of special project. So far it looks like this one's gonna be a lot harsher than our recent shows...

March 1, 2.004

Just a quick note to announce that we will be appearing as part of the
"Everest Records Labelnight" on March 2 in Fri-Son (Bobine). There
will be no entrance fee, so feel free... Doors open at 22.00!

Other acts will be Kaleidophone & Everest and visuals will again be
supplied by the lovely Anne Strehl.

See you there!

November 19, 2.003

We had an interesting gig in Zürich last Saturday. Funnily enough, it
was that gig that should have been described as "Electrodark", since it was so fucking dark we could barely see a thing...

Our sincere thanks go out to Hans Spieler for making it happen and for cooking really excellent food for us!

The upcoming gig in Lausanne has been cancelled and may happen at a later date. We do however play in Geneva (see link below) on November 28.

"Das ist kein Schutz, Hans!"

October 29, 2.003

This fall sees us preparing for some more live dates towards the end of
the year... and some new recordings - details on these coming up soon.

Confirmed live dates so far are:

November 15, 2.003: Egocity, Zürich
November 22, 2.003: Espace Autogéré, Lausanne   => cancelled!!!
November 28, 2.003: Le Kab de l'Usine, Genève (Electrodark XXIV) (!)
January 31, 2.004: Sedel, Luzern

All performances will be double-bills with Everest, featuring
Anne Strehl on visuals.

July 31, 2.003

The recent gigs have been added to the live section. More next week...

Our mini-tour in Germany was great fun. Even for the poor sod Beisel, who
had to drive all the way. Many huge thanks for his continuing support!

Don't forget to show up at the impending gigs in Reitschule Bern tomorrow and at Bucheron 13 on Saturday!!!

"Es war zuu laut. Ihr wart zu laut. Es war viiiel zu laut..."

July 7, 2.003

Live section is finally uploaded. More to follow shortly.

The record release party of "Havarie" on March 29 was a great event. Don't miss the pictures of the sinking of the "Queen Herpes" here.

We're currently working on our new set, and there are some gigs
coming up in July and in August, namely

July 25
Everest Records label night / Invisible Traces 5
Galerie für zeitgenössische Kunst/Studiohaus, Leipzig, Germany

July 26
Everest Records label night / Salon Bruit
Kathedrale, Berlin, Germany

August 1 - Open Air concert in Reitschule Bern (more info TBA)
August 2 - Project with Everest at the legendary Bucheron 13, Bern

Once again, please support your local virus!

January 8, 2.003

CD "Havarie" will be released on February 3, 2.003!

The release party and concert will take place March 29 in the wonderful Café Bad Bonn, Düdingen.

There are two things to celebrate!

First, and most importantly, we finally managed to release our first full-length CD in seven years!!! This (and other stuff) will soon be available through our shop or through everest records.

Secondly, thanks to rag of lab 42, we now finally have our own website, which will be updated on a regular basis, very unlike our previous effort, which was last updated in 1997... The categories will be filled up day by
day, so make sure to check back soon!

please send comments, complaints and suggestions to me: blinddoc@datacomm.ch

Meanwhile, we wish you a prosperous new year and assure you that
a lot of interesting things are going to happen in the next few months!

Yours,
BlindDoc
